Metinvest acquires Romanian pipe plant

Metinvest has completed the acquisition of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, located in the Romanian city of Iași. The plant produces welded structural pipes for the construction, engineering, infrastructure and agricultural sectors. Its maximum production capacity is 240,000 tonnes a year.

Algoma Steel looks to the future

Algoma Steel will lay off approximately 1000 workers, giving them four months notice in December 2025. The Ontario-based company said that the job cuts stem directly from unprecedented 50% tariffs imposed by the United States six months ago, rendering traditional blast-furnace steelmaking no longer viable.
