ArcelorMittal has confirmed the construction of an electric arc furnace (EAF) at its steelmaking site in Dunkirk. This strategic €1.3 billion investment marks a major step in the decarbonisation of ArcelorMittal’s steel production in France.

Before any work can start on constructing one of the world’s largest electric arc furnaces at Port Talbot, the existing steel plant building – in which it is to be located – is being stripped back to a shell as the site prepares for the next generation of steelmaking.
